Teacher Planner

Wow! It has been a wild week. I {finally} finished up my binder, tried to print it at Staples because I had a nice gift card there, only to find out it would cost over $100. So, I used said gift card to buy a new printer instead. :P

This fabulous binder took all summer to make. Okay, that's an exaggeration, but it is the reason that I have this blog and TpT store. I didn't have any intentions of doing either of those things, but then I realized how much time I was investing into making fonts and backgrounds just for a Teacher Planner. Hello? So, I decided to make sure that time investment was well spent.

Here is the finished product:

What do you think?

I have also put the parts that I created in my TpT store.

By the way, it's on sale until tomorrow for $3! :)

As soon as I get it all bound, I'll upload a photo to show you how it looks.

In other news, I was nominated for another Liebster Award! Yay! I'll be doing another post about that later! I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

TpT

Hello friends!
It's been a labor of love (and a little bit of tears), but I finally have my TpT store up and running! Plus!! I have a button to my store on the right side of the blog. I'm so happy to have both going. I made everything about each of those icons {TpT, Instagram, and Pinterest} right down to the fonts, so even if they're not perfect, I love them anyway. ;)

Okay, so now to check out my store.

I have my first Task Card pack in there for reading comprehension in upper grades! Please be sure to check them out. I worked really hard on them. {Thanks to Collaboration Cuties for the background, and I'm Lovin Lit for the card frames.}

I also have some classroom decor! My theme for the coming year is going to be chevron {specifically pink and lime.} So, my FREEBIE in my store are some adorable name plates. I made one for boys and one for girls. They will be part of a package I will put together for room decor in the same color scheme. So, be on the lookout for that!

{The whole name plate has the full Scrappin Doodles kid art, which I bought from them. Since I didn't design it, I don't feel comfortable showing the full thing. Head on over to my store to see the full thing. :) Everything else was made by yours truly.}

Thanks for stopping by!

I won an award!

Hey everyone! Exciting news! Rachel from SeƱorita Creativa nominated me for the Liebster award, which is given to recognize new blogs and welcome them into the community.

To accept this award I must:

1. Link back to the blog that nominated me
2. Nominate 5-11 blogs with fewer than 200 followers
3. Answer the questions posted for you by your nominator
4. Share 11 random facts about yourself
5. Create 11 questions for your nominees
6. Contact your nominees and let them know you nominated them

Questions for me to answer :)

  1. What is your must-have teacher tool? I love my projector. I don't have a SmartBoard, but I {love} my projector, and so do my students.
  2. What is your favorite age to teach? I have had the pleasure of teaching all of the grades in Elementary School, and I adore third grade.
  3. If you had to eat one food/dish every day for the next year, what would it be? I could eat at ChikFilA every day of the week.
  4. What is your favorite subject or topic to teach? Math :)
  5. What is your favorite place to buy teacher clothes? My favorite store ever, Target!
  6. Chevron or polka dots? Both, please! ;)
  7. What is your best teaching-related memory? The day one of my students told me he liked school. I spent several months working with him, and in first grade he already decided he wasn't "good" at school. :( Luckily, that changed.
  8. What is the funniest thing a student has said to you? Oh gosh! That changes every single day. One K student told me my shirt was beautiful every time I saw him, which was once a week. That always seemed to make me giggle.
  9. What is your favorite organizational tool (teaching-related or not)? My teacher planner!
  10. If you could talk to yourself before you started teaching, what would you tell yourself? You got this! Just get ready for the paper work.
  11. What is your favorite movie or tv show? The Walking Dead

11 Random Facts:

1. I {love} to travel. I have been out of the country 4 times so far, and would love to go again.
2. Speaking of traveling, I have climbed an active volcano on one of those trips. Exciting stuff!

4. Breakfast is my absolute favorite meal of the day.
5. I'm an introvert. {Most of the time.}
6. I have only had one car my whole driving life. I <3 my 13 year old Honda!
7. I hate going to the doctor, except for the Dentist. I love to get my teeth cleaned! Weird. I know!
8. I don't know how to ride a bike or blow a bubble from bubble gum. I know. I was deprived of these "normal" childhood things. I guess I was too busy playing with my Barbies, and I don't really like gum.
9. My favorite place in the whole world is Walt Disney World. I would live there if I could.
10. I own a ferret. Her name is Marley, and she is adorable.
11. Interestingly, I love to teach Math, but I didn't like it as a student, and I love to write, but it's not my favorite to teach. Hmm...?

Tried it Tuesday

Today is time for

For my first "Tried It," I tried iFontMaker, which is an app for my iPad. I {love} all of those adorable fonts that I see everyone using, but at this point in time I can't afford to buy every cute one I see. Plus, I'm kind of a font snob and a diy-er, so this was a perfect marriage of the two.

I'll be honest, I was kind of nervous to buy this app. $6.99 is one of the more expensive apps that I've bought, but everyone said it was addictive. Guess what. They're so {right}! I have spent countless hours on it creating about 12 fonts so far. By the way, it's fairly easy to get started. Most of the functions are self explanatory, and I learned really quickly what each of the buttons/capabilities are on it.

This one is my favorite:

I can't wait to start using this on all of my teacher resources! :)

Monday Made It

It's time for my very first

I have seen all of these posts about making cute "Read" signs from letters at Michaels, cute paper, and mod podge. So, I went to my local Michaels and fell in love with a smaller group of letters. {I adore bright colors!}
photo.JPG
Plus, that caterpillar! Don't even get me started on how cute he is.
So, I went to work creating my little "Read" sign, which didn't take long at all. Just place letters, the flower, and the caterpillar. I was left with this until the glue dried:
photo.JPG
Cute, right? ....but the waiting to let the glue dry....
Which led to my heartbreak. The glue spread out showing it's nasty self around all of my cute little pieces. Eek! It wasn't completely dried yet, so I tried using my finger nail to scrap off the excess. {Dumb, I know!} In the process, I scraped off the white paint, too. Bummer....

If you look in the shadow next to this cute guy, you can see the huge chip. :(
So, I did what any good crafter would do. I improvised. I recently went crazy going to 3 different Targets to check out their 70% off Dollar Spot Sales. {I wanted it all!} Of the many things that I was able to score was purple and silver glitter glues for 30 cents each! :D
Check out the finished product:

All of those ugly nasty chips are hidden, and now it has some glitz! All I have left to do is glue on some ribbon to hang it up with.

PS...every single item was on sale between Target and Michaels! {Is this real life? ;) }

Currently in July

I've seen this on other teachers' blogs, and thought I would join in the fun of Farley's linky party from Oh Boy 4th Grade!
One of the beauties of Summer is having more time to catch up on all those shows we don't have time for during the school year, including all of our guilty pleasures! Tonight is one of those nights. :)

Yesterday I went camping, which is kind of a big deal for me. I'm a girly girl through and through. Not having any comforts other than a tent is way out of my comfort zone, but I had a good time, especially when we made s'mores during our camp fire! Yummy! :) Anyway, we woke up with the sun this morning, and man it seemed early! 7:30...during the school year I would laugh in your face if you told me 7:30 was getting up "early." Now, I prefer 9 am! :P

I don't just think I need to get orgnaized, I know I do! Between starting a new blog, hopefully starting a new TpT store, and getting ready to teach a new grade (3rd grade here I come!), I definitely need to get organized. My first step: organizer from Target. It might just be my favorite thing at the moment. I'll show you it later in the week! ;)

My phone is 3 years old. Most people would have put it as a "need" instead of a "want," but I just can't see a perfectly good phone being replaced for the sake of keeping up with the latest and greatest. Trust me, I can be like that with other things (fashion!) but my phone just isn't one of them.

Who doesn't need more time?! Even on the "down" time of summer, I could use oodles more time!

Lastly, I am so excited to show off my new planner from my favorite store: Target. (coming soon!)

Hope you all are enjoying your first day of July!
